Bits and Pieces of Happy Holidays

The children wrote about their holiday experiences using their five senses. Here is just a taste (or a glimpse,  a whiff, a whisper or perhaps a touch) of that writing.

The sweet jammy smell was so yummy it made my tummy rumble. Ben

I felt the burning hot sand as I ran onto the big beach. Jacob

At QEII I smelt the yucky, salty chlorine smell. Meg

My cousin’s new kitten felt so soft and fluffy. Bella

I tasted the cold ice block it was fruity and sweet. Thomas W

I saw little baby fish that looked like snakes with snake patterns. There were millions of them around my feet. Maddie

I heard the clock going tick tock when I had to have my beauty sleep. Ambyr

I saw a stingray swim around in circles like a shark trying to attack someone. Emma

As I stumbled out of my tent I smelt the salty smell of the sea. Olivia

I felt a tug on my line as I was trying to catch a fish. Oh no, not lake weed again. Issy

I saw the beautiful pink and orange sky at night. It was so beautiful. Mia

I felt the cold rain as I rushed to the car on the way to the movies. Jack H

I saw the white steam coming out of the train’s funnel and black smoke coming from the chimney. Taiko

I felt the smooth bars on the Shotover Jet. It was like cold ice freezing in my hands. Thomas A

I felt very queasy during the storm. I felt the wind flying past my face and feet. Jack C

I heard the crickets making screechy stories. Tom

I tasted the delicious three storey sandwich. It was fishy, cheesy, saucy and scrumptious. Blake

I felt my fern bush it was smooth and furry. Molly

I smelt the black smoke coming from the fire at the park. Tane

I heard the wind swoosh and bang against the door. Triny

I heard wood pigeons having whooping conversations. Piper
