I was so proud of all you children today. In all ways you behaved with excellence. You showed initiative by getting to the field safely. By caring for each other you demonstrated manaakitanga . You showed respect for the rules and each other in very difficult circumstances. When new problems "popped up" we worked together with creativity to solve them. We are lucky to be in such a caring community.
I'm sorry but fun doesn't get a look in today, but we'll be back at school having fun together again soon.
Until then, take care and be safe.
Love from Anna Ashby
Hi Ms Ashby and friends. We are safe at home. Isabel and I slept under the kitchen table last night and Mum and dad slept on mattresses on the floor by us. We walked home in the mud. Keep safe. Love Maddie
ReplyDeleteHi Maddie,
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased to hear you are safe. I spent a bit of time under our kitchen table yesterday too.

Lotsa love Kate XXX
Hi Bella and Kate,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your message. It's nice to be on firm ground isn't it? Harry's got the right idea. I hope you're getting some sleep too.
Love Anna
Hi guys
ReplyDeleteSuch a terrible time and all of your class and the school made it through with amazing courage and a caring outlook for all those around them. We are safe at home and are learning to get by without water. Jacob and I gathered our water from the "village well" this morning, it felt like we were living in a different country.
Keep safe everybody and have cuddles with your family.

Hi Claire and Jacob,
ReplyDeleteI'm pleased to hear you are safe at home together. A lot of Christchurch people are here in South Canterbury. I saw Diane and Livi on the main street in Timaru to day. We realise what a treat it is to have running water and a flushing loo.
Kia kaha!
Anna
