Today we are really getting into our Science topic. This video about Solids, Liquids, Gases is an funky way to begin thinking about the states of matter.
We came up with some curly questions that friends and family might be able to help us with:
- What is light? A solid, a liquid, a gas or something else altogether?
- How can we make a model to show what a gas is like?
- Is a bath mat really a solid? Why does it change shape so much and behave differently in different situations (like when it's dry and on the floor compared to when it's wet and floating in the bath?)
Hmmm, science is like that isn't it? Just when you think you've got a rule that helps you understand something, you can think of something that doesn't quite fit.
p.s. I've just been visiting my mum and dad and telling them about your great ideas and questions today. I was reminded of another curly question you came up with. It was when we were talking about our bodies and how they are made up of solids, liquids and gases. Someone asked if ideas were a gas. Dad especially liked that question.
