The Job Talks Begin.

Today we had two visitors coming and talking about their jobs.

First up was Lauren talking about being a Stay at Home Mum. We were interested to hear about all the jobs she did as part of her job. She told us about the tools she uses to do her job and the things that helped her decide to have that job.
She likes her job because it allows her to be flexible so she can fit in different activities. She doesn't like it when people thinks she is doing nothing and should be having another job.
Being a mum at home for Lauren means her family life works well and they can be involved in many different things. Lauren knows she is doing her job well when things are running smoothly.
Sometimes she does baking and we were very lucky that she brought some of that to share with us today.

Amanda talked to us about one of her jobs next. She works part-time as an Educational Psychologist. That means that three days a week she works as a stay at home mum and two other days she works as an Educational Psychologist.
An educational psychologist can help children who are having trouble learning or behaving appropriately. Amanda said that watching people, thinking and talking to them about their behaviour and learning helps her to know how she can help them. Sometimes she works with parents to help them learn new ways to help their children. We heard about some ways children can relax if they feel worried or stressed out.
Amanda had to study at university for six years before she became a psychologist. She knows she is doing her job well or correctly if she is able to help children and their families. Sometimes she asks other psychologists for help and advice. She finds it frustrating if she doesn't have enough time to work on something.
